In a feat that has left California’s legal world in awe, 17-year-old Sophia Park has shattered records by becoming the youngest person to pass the state’s rigorous bar exam. Her extraordinary achievement not only marks a milestone in her career but also cements her family’s legacy in the legal profession.
Sophia, just 17 years and 8 months old, accomplished this groundbreaking feat while serving as a law clerk at the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office. Remarkably, she began her legal education at the tender age of 13, balancing law school with junior high. By 15, she had graduated high school, and earlier this year, she completed law school, all before most of her peers had even begun their college applications.
The previous record-holder? Her older brother, Peter Park, who passed the bar exam at 17 years and 11 months just last year. The sibling duo has now carved their names into California’s legal history, with Sophia taking the crown as the youngest to pass the exam.
In a press release, Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward lauded Sophia’s achievement. “Sophia’s amazing accomplishments speak for themselves, and we could not be prouder as an office family,” he said. Sophia, who is slated to become a licensed attorney in March 2025 upon turning 18, expressed her passion for justice and her ambition to join the DA’s office as a prosecutor.
“As a prosecutor, I will work to see justice served and ensure that victims’ voices are heard,” she said, echoing the dedication that has become a hallmark of her budding career.
Sophia’s story is not just one of personal triumph but also a reflection of hard work, perseverance, and a supportive family. Her journey is inspiring a new generation of young minds to dream big and push boundaries.
With her license on the horizon, Sophia Park is poised to make waves in the legal world, proving that age is no barrier to success when paired with determination and talent.
