The incident happened around 7:27 p.m. on the 2200 block of Q Street, Southeast. Police officers from the Sixth District rushed to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a young man who had been shot. He was unresponsive and showed no signs of breathing. Emergency responders from DC Fire and EMS quickly assessed the situation but, sadly, determined there were no signs of life. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
