Three people are facing charges after a string of storage unit break-ins in Gwinnett County that left over 100 units at two separate locations burglarized. Here’s how it all unfolded.
The trouble started earlier this month at a storage facility on Old Norcross Road. Between December 4 and December 6, thieves broke into more than 60 units at the site, located at 2044 Old Norcross Road. Gwinnett County Police launched an investigation and soon got a major lead—a U-Haul truck spotted in the area by Flock cameras.
Detectives linked the truck to 21-year-old Shusune Arrington from Union City. Not only did the truck match, but Arrington himself resembled a suspect seen on the facility’s security footage. This was a big break in the case, but it wasn’t the end of the story.
Fast forward to December 10. Police got a call about a suspicious person hanging around another storage facility, this time on Five Forks Trickum Road in Lilburn. When officers arrived, they found a U-Haul truck parked at the scene, occupied by Arrington and 26-year-old Teshauna Lovett from Atlanta. Both were arrested on the spot. But the drama didn’t stop there—a third suspect, 33-year-old Niquay Dexter, also from Atlanta, ran off before police could catch him.
This second burglary hit hard, too. Another 55 storage units were broken into at the Five Forks Trickum Road facility. Investigators didn’t waste time piecing things together. Arrington, Lovett, and Dexter have all been charged with seven counts of second-degree burglary. While Arrington and Lovett are now in custody, Dexter is still on the run.
The good news? Police have already recovered around $20,000 worth of stolen Dewalt tools and returned them to their rightful owner. They also found more stolen items in the U-Haul, which they’re currently sorting through.
