LA PLATA, Md. (TCN) – Authorities in Maryland have arrested a 48-year-old man who allegedly shot and killed his teenage stepson after a dispute over household chores.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported that just after midnight on Wednesday, November 20, deputies responded to a shooting call in the 6400 block of Huntt Road. Upon arrival, they found the suspect, identified as Darshan Williams, waiting outside the residence.

Inside the home, officers discovered 15-year-old Michael Clemons lying unconscious and unresponsive. Despite efforts to revive him, including CPR, paramedics pronounced the teenager dead at the scene.

Williams was taken into custody without incident.

According to the sheriff’s office, Williams was reportedly “upset the victim did not complete some household chores,” which escalated into a fatal altercation. He now faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and child abuse resulting in death.

Court records indicate that Williams was denied bond and remains in custody as the investigation continues.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, leaving many grappling with the senseless nature of the crime. Authorities have not disclosed additional details about the case or the household dynamics leading up to the shooting.
