Authorities in California are searching for a woman who was allegedly kidnapped in an incident captured on video.
The Oakland Police Department reported that the incident took place on Tuesday, March 4, along 98th Avenue in Oakland. Surveillance footage shows a man hitting a woman with his vehicle as she was walking down the street. The man then pulled over and exited the car while the woman stood near the entrance of a residence.
Initially, he appeared to approach the area calmly, but the video briefly turns blurry before showing a struggle. According to police, the man punched the woman multiple times, causing severe injuries. He then forcefully grabbed her as she resisted and shoved her a few feet toward the vehicle before forcing her inside. Throughout the struggle, the woman was reportedly heard screaming that she was being kidnapped.
After forcing the woman into the car, the suspect drove off to an unknown location. Investigators later recovered the stolen vehicle in East Oakland, but both the suspect and the woman remain missing.
Authorities describe the victim as a Black woman between 20 and 22 years old, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighing around 140 pounds. She has black and blue dreadlocks or braids. The suspect is described as a Black male between 20 and 24 years old, also about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a thin build and short, twisted hair. He has a scar or mark on his left cheek.
Oakland police are urging anyone with information on the case to contact the department’s Missing Persons Unit at (510) 238-3641 or dial 911.
