In a shocking incident at a Norfolk pizzeria, a Virginia couple has been arrested and charged with assaulting an employee who they claimed had botched their pizza order. The violent encounter occurred at MOD Pizza on Premium Outlets Boulevard and has left the community and the company reeling.
According to Norfolk Police, the distressing event unfolded on the afternoon of November 17, when they were called to the scene at approximately 2:25 p.m. They discovered a 24-year-old male employee with multiple stab wounds, one of which was severe enough to expose his intestines. The victim was quickly transported to the hospital with injuries that, while serious, were not life-threatening.
Investigations revealed that the altercation began when Catherine Harper, one of the accused, confronted the employee over what she deemed a mishandled order. The situation escalated rapidly after she called her husband, Corey Harper, to the scene to “handle the situation.” Upon his arrival, Corey Harper allegedly attacked the employee with a knife, resulting in the grievous injuries.
Both Catherine and Corey Harper fled the scene following the incident but were subsequently apprehended by law enforcement. They now face serious charges, including malicious wounding. Corey Harper has also been charged with brandishing a firearm during the assault.
MOD Pizza has publicly expressed its dismay over the incident, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of their employees and guests are of utmost priority. The company also stated that this unfortunate event has prompted a re-evaluation of their employee training programs to reinforce their values and safety protocols.
The case continues to develop as the Norfolk Police Department conducts its investigation, with the local community and the company hoping for justice and a swift recovery for the victim.
