St. Joseph County, Ind. – A night of gun violence led to the arrest of three suspects following two separate shooting incidents in St. Joseph County.
The first shooting occurred near Michigan Street and Adams Road, where a parked van was struck by bullets. Officers responding to the scene found and collected shell casings, confirming that shots had been fired.
Shortly after, another round of gunfire erupted near the 51000 block of State Road 933. As police arrived, they spotted four men fleeing into a wooded area. After a brief chase, authorities apprehended three of the suspects.
Arrested Suspects and Charges
The individuals arrested have been identified as:
- Michael Winston, 23 – Facing preliminary charges for felon in possession of a firearm, criminal recklessness, and resisting law enforcement.
- Angelo Perez, 24 – Charged with felon in possession of a firearm, criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement, and two felony warrants from St. Joseph County.
- Fabian Yanez, 20 – Facing charges for criminal recklessness and resisting law enforcement.
Weapons and Contraband Recovered
During the investigation, officers discovered an alarming cache of weapons and ammunition, including:
- An AK-47, suspected to have been used in the shooting
- A pistol-grip shotgun
- A stolen handgun from South Bend
- A second handgun found in the woods
- Numerous rounds of ammunition of various calibers
- Drug paraphernalia and marijuana
Authorities are working with the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office to finalize formal charges against the suspects.
