In a tragic incident in Wythe County, Virginia, a 28-year-old woman named Savannah Adams has been charged with first-degree murder following the death of another woman she allegedly set on fire. The attack occurred on November 17 in Max Meadows, prompting an immediate response from local law enforcement.
The victim, identified as Tiffany Dunford, sustained critical injuries from the attack. She was found with severe burns covering most of her body after Adams reportedly doused her with gasoline while she sat on an outdoor couch and then ignited the fire. Dunford was urgently airlifted to a specialized medical facility; however, she succumbed to her injuries the following day.
According to reports from WDBJ-TV, the violent encounter unfolded when Adams drove up to the residence, carried out the attack, and then fled the scene in a Dodge Neon. Witnesses at the scene, including Dunford before her death, identified Adams as the assailant, leading to her swift arrest.
Initially, Adams faced charges of attempted second-degree murder and felonious assault. However, following Dunford’s death, the charges were escalated to first-degree murder. Adams is currently being held without bond at Wythe County Jail.
The sheriff’s office has revealed that Dunford and Adams were acquainted, which adds a layer of complexity to the motives behind the attack. As the community reels from this horrific act, the investigation continues, with local authorities piecing together the events that led to this brutal and fatal assault.
