AUBURN TOWNSHIP, OH – A tragic incident has shaken the Geauga County community after a mother and her 10-year-old child were found dead in what authorities suspect was a murder-suicide.
According to the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home in Auburn Township at 5:20 a.m. on Friday following a report of an attempted suicide. Upon arrival, officers discovered both the 52-year-old woman and the child suffering from gunshot wounds.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene, while the mother was transported to UH Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities have not yet released their identities.
Sheriff Scott Hildenbrand expressed condolences, stating, “Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking incident. We are committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.”
