A tragic shooting unfolded in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood, leaving multiple people injured and a 21-year-old woman facing serious charges. The violent altercation, which escalated inside a liquor store on Friday night, resulted in at least four people being shot, with two victims currently in critical condition.
According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Angeles Flores, was arrested at a hospital on the Near West Side shortly after the incident. The shooting took place around 10:22 p.m. in the 1900 block of West 51st Street, following a heated argument between two groups.
During the confrontation, police say Flores pulled out a firearm and opened fire, striking three individuals. Moments later, a male accomplice allegedly grabbed the weapon from her and continued shooting, injuring another person. The chaos didn’t stop there—one of the victims reportedly returned fire, hitting Flores in the heel and thigh.
The aftermath of the shooting was devastating. A 48-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and remains in critical condition. A 22-year-old man was also critically injured after being shot in the chest. Additionally, a 61-year-old woman sustained a graze wound to her elbow, while a 46-year-old man was shot in the left hand.
Emergency responders rushed the injured victims to nearby hospitals for treatment. Meanwhile, Flores, who was also wounded, was taken into custody while receiving medical attention. She now faces three counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated discharge of a weapon in an occupied building.
The incident has left the community shaken, as investigators work to determine the full details of the altercation. Authorities have yet to release further information on the male suspect involved in the shooting.
