Usher gave Houston a pre-Thanksgiving treat on Wednesday night at the Toyota Center. The two-hour show was packed with hits, amazing dancing, some fun surprises, and even a little audience game involving cherries. It was an unforgettable night!
As Usher made his way through the crowd, he spotted actress Nia Long (known for Love Jones and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) sitting with a friend. Close by, singer Al B. Sure! (who lives in Houston) was there too. Al B. Sure! worked on Usher’s debut album and played a big role in his career. Usher took a moment to thank him, calling him a big brother and sharing a sweet memory before playing a snippet of Al B.’s 1988 hit “Nite and Day.”
Usher also gave a shout-out to local rappers Trae Tha Truth and Slim Thug, and invited Bun B to the stage. Bun performed his hits “Get Throwed” and “Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You),” and the crowd went wild, as always. Usher’s Houston fans can look forward to even more shows, with two more performances scheduled for the weekend.
Before Usher hit the stage, a DJ played a set of ’90s jams, getting everyone hyped for the night. The concert was a journey through Usher’s three-decade career, with a stage divided into sections and tons of live action, dancers, and video clips of Usher’s past performances.
The show kicked off with a Michael Jackson-inspired intro featuring finger snaps and smooth dance moves. Usher, known for his clean and effortless dancing style, wowed the audience with his skills during hits like “You Make Me Wanna…” and “U Don’t Have to Call.”
He even skated on roller skates for “Don’t Waste My Time” and “Love in This Club.” Usher kept changing outfits throughout the night, from shiny vests to cozy fur coats, and even stripped off his shirt to show off his signature abs.
Some of the biggest moments came with hits like “Nice & Slow,” “U Got It Bad,” and “Burn.” Fans couldn’t help but get on their feet, singing along and dancing to every word. Usher even got playful with a game called “Cherry on Top,” where he would either feed a woman a cherry or have her partner do it. Houston was loving it!
The night ended with “Without You,” leaving everyone buzzing with energy as the lights came on and a Thanksgiving classic played in the background. It was the perfect way to kick off the holiday season!
