Fort Lauderdale, FL – A routine evening turned perilous when a boat erupted in flames at the Lauderdale Marina, located at 1900 SE 15th St., just after 7 p.m. on Thursday. The incident resulted in one man being hospitalized with burns and other injuries.
According to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials, the fire ignited while the vessel was being refueled. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, extinguishing the blaze and preventing further damage. The injured individual was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. This incident underscores the potential dangers associated with fueling operations and the critical importance of adhering to safety protocols.
This event follows a similar tragedy in October, when a boat explosion at the Nautical Ventures Marina in Dania Beach resulted in one death and four critical injuries.
As the boating community enters its peak season, officials urge all operators to exercise heightened caution during fueling and maintenance activities to prevent such devastating occurrences.
