SOUTH FULTON, Ga. – A peaceful evening at a new senior living center on Jonesboro Road turned tragic when police were called to investigate a possible homicide. It all started when a man called 911, claiming he had killed someone in self-defense.
The call led officers to the Jonesboro Road Senior Village around 9 p.m. on Friday night. When they arrived, they found the man sitting calmly on the grass outside the building. The real shock, however, was upstairs.
Officers went to the second floor and discovered an apartment door slightly open. Inside, they found an elderly woman lying unresponsive on the floor. Broken glass scattered around the scene suggested some sort of fight had taken place. Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead right there.
A witness told police they had heard an argument between a man and a woman on the second floor just before officers arrived. The details of what happened remain unclear, and police are still trying to piece it all together.
“It’s just heartbreaking,” said Ramon S. Vidal, one of the residents at the senior village. “This place has been so quiet since it opened. We’ve never had anything like this happen before.”
Vidal, like many others in the building, expressed shock over the incident. “It makes you nervous,” he said. “I’ve been telling my wife we should park near the front and stick to using the front door now.”
The man who made the 911 call has been detained for questioning, but police haven’t released his identity or that of the woman who lost her life. As of now, it’s still a mystery what led to this tragic event.
Residents of the Jonesboro Road Senior Village are left shaken, wondering how such a peaceful community could become the scene of such a tragedy. Investigators are working to find answers and bring clarity to this heartbreaking story.
