Rappers Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs are facing serious accusations in a civil lawsuit that claims they raped a 13-year-old girl back in 2000. This lawsuit, which was first filed in October and recently updated to include Jay-Z, alleges that the incident took place at an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City.
The woman, who is now living in Alabama and is referred to as “Jane Doe” in the lawsuit, says she went to the VMAs hoping to get in but ended up being invited to the afterparty by a limo driver who claimed to work for Diddy. Once at the party, she was reportedly asked to sign something that she believes was a non-disclosure agreement.
While at the party, she accepted a drink from a waitress and soon began to feel dizzy and lightheaded. Looking for a place to rest, she entered a room with a bed. According to the lawsuit, that’s when Jay-Z and Diddy, along with another unnamed woman, entered the room. The lawsuit claims that Jay-Z held her down and raped her while Diddy and the woman watched. Afterward, Diddy allegedly raped her as well, and when he tried to force her to perform oral sex, she managed to escape after fighting back.
The lawsuit states that despite other guests being present, no one seemed to notice her distress or offer help. After leaving the party, she ran to a nearby gas station where a clerk noticed she was upset and let her use the phone to call her father for a ride home.
In response to these allegations, Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, called the claims a “blackmail attempt.” He expressed his determination not to settle, stating that he wants to expose what he sees as a fraudulent claim. Diddy’s attorney also denied the allegations, describing the lawsuit as a publicity stunt aimed at extracting money from celebrities.
Interestingly, the lawyer representing the woman, Tony Buzbee, has faced his own legal troubles, including a lawsuit from an anonymous celebrity who accuses him of trying to extort money. Buzbee has denied these claims and insists that the woman he represents is simply seeking a confidential mediation, not money.
As for Diddy, he is currently in custody in New York, facing federal charges related to sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty to these charges and has had multiple attempts to secure bail denied.
This situation is still developing, and the legal battles are likely to continue as both sides prepare to present their cases in court.
