A deadly Israeli airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip has claimed the lives of at least 19 people, according to Palestinian medical officials. The attack, which hit a home in Beit Lahiya where displaced families were seeking refuge, has left a community grieving. Among the victims were eight members of one family, including four children and their parents, as well as two grandparents. The casualties were taken to Kamal Adwan Hospital on Wednesday, where officials confirmed the heartbreaking news.
This strike is part of a larger wave of violence in Gaza, with Israeli forces continuing their offensive against Hamas militants since October. In another attack on Wednesday, a strike in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza killed at least seven people, including two children and several relatives.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas began in early October, when Hamas militants launched an attack on Israel, killing approximately 1,200 people, most of whom were civilians. Around 250 people were abducted, including children and elderly individuals. While Israel’s military claims to have killed over 17,000 militants in its response, the toll on Palestinian civilians has been devastating, with local health officials reporting over 44,000 deaths, including many women and children.
In other developments, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has spoken out about the situation in Syria. He claims that recent events, including the fall of the Syrian government, are part of a joint plan orchestrated by the United States and Israel. Khamenei insists that there is clear evidence to support this claim. He also addressed concerns that Iran might be weakened by these events, asserting that Iran will remain strong and grow even more powerful in the future, thanks to its commitment to resistance.
