A tragic incident unfolded Monday night at a USPS facility in Missouri City, Texas, leaving one employee dead and another in police custody.
Police responded to reports of a shooting at the South Houston Processing facility just before 10 p.m. When officers arrived, they searched the building and sadly found a man who had been killed. Authorities also arrested a person of interest who matched the description provided by several callers.
The suspect has been identified as Derrick Lott, now facing a murder charge and currently in police custody.
Co-workers Caught in Deadly Dispute
Missouri City police confirmed the victim was Kevin J. Hines. According to KHOU, both Hines and Lott were co-workers, though what led to the fatal encounter remains unclear.
The investigation is still ongoing, with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service working closely with local police. Dana Carter from the Inspection Service’s Houston Division emphasized the agency’s commitment to safety:
“Our partnership with the Missouri City Police Department is about conducting a thorough investigation while ensuring the safety of the community and our employees,” Carter shared.
