Cobb County police are looking into a scary incident that happened at Fair Oaks Park on the evening of November 30, 2024. What started as a simple meeting turned into a dangerous encounter involving kidnapping and carjacking.
Cesar Murillo-Murillo had gone to the park to meet up with a woman he knew, but things took a frightening turn when a man armed with a handgun approached him. The man, later identified as Edwin Flores Jr., fired the weapon, though luckily, Murillo-Murillo wasn’t hit.
Things got worse when Flores handcuffed him, forced him into a vehicle, and took off with Murillo-Murillo’s Chevrolet Silverado truck.
After a terrifying experience, Murillo-Murillo managed to escape near the intersection of Austell Road and Windy Hill Road. He quickly found help and called the police. Officers later recovered the stolen truck, and the Major Crimes Unit began digging into what happened.
As the investigation unfolded, police obtained arrest warrants for both Flores and the woman Murillo-Murillo had gone to meet.
Flores was arrested on December 3 and is now facing several serious charges, including two counts of aggravated assault, kidnapping, hijacking a motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a felon. So far, no bond has been set for him.
As for the woman’s involvement, her current status remains unclear, and police are still working on the case.
