Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House, is recovering after a fall during an official trip to Luxembourg. The 84-year-old congresswoman was there with a bipartisan delegation to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge when the incident occurred.
Pelosi reportedly fell on a staircase, leading to her hospitalization. While her office has not provided specific details about the injury, sources shared that she was later flown by the U.S. military to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, a renowned hospital that has cared for many American servicemembers over the years.
Despite her injury, Pelosi is staying busy and expressed her disappointment at missing the remaining events on the trip. In a statement, her spokesperson Ian Krager reassured the public about her condition, saying, “Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi is receiving excellent care and remains committed to her work. She looks forward to returning home soon.”
The news of Pelosi’s fall comes just days after another prominent political figure, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, suffered a fall at the Capitol. The 82-year-old Republican leader tripped, resulting in a sprained wrist and a minor cut to his face, though he was quickly cleared to resume his duties.
While both Pelosi and McConnell continue to demonstrate their resilience, these incidents are reminders of the challenges that come with their demanding roles and packed schedules.
