CLEBURNE COUNTY — A two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on U.S. 431 killed two people and sent another to the hospital, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The crash happened around 6:51 a.m. Sunday near the 213 mile marker on U.S. 431, about eight miles southwest of Heflin in Cleburne County.
Authorities said Jerre L. Dingler, 83, of Delta, suffered fatal injuries when the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser he was driving collided head-on with a 2013 Honda CR-V. Officials pronounced him deceased at the scene.
A passenger in the Honda, Skylar C. Glenn, 27, of Lineville, also suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Glenn was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to ALEA.
The driver of the Honda was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for medical treatment.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division responded to the scene and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials released no additional details, including what may have caused the collision.
Officials said no further information is available at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
