Two men were caught red-handed while trying to steal catalytic converters from cars in northwest Houston, and their getaway plan didn’t quite work out.
It all went down last week on December 11th at the Metro Park and Ride on 25000 Northwest Freeway. Deputies from Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office and the Houston Metro Police Department rushed to the scene after getting a report about a theft in progress.
When they got there, officers found two men—Ledarion McCray (22) and William Anderson (20)—right in the middle of stealing catalytic converters from parked cars. As soon as the men spotted the officers, they tried to escape by driving off. But the authorities were quick on their feet and managed to stop the pair before they got too far.
After arresting the two, officers searched their vehicle and uncovered three stolen catalytic converters, a handheld power saw, illegal drugs, and even firearms. Talk about a serious haul.
McCray and Anderson were both taken into custody and now face charges for theft and drug-related offenses. But here’s where it gets worse for Anderson—he already had previous felony warrants for theft and organized crime.
When it came to bond, McCray’s was set at $25,000, but Anderson is still waiting for his bond to be decided.
Thanks to the quick action by law enforcement, the theft was stopped, and the suspects are now facing the consequences. It’s another reminder to stay alert, as catalytic converter thefts continue to be a big problem across the country.
