A man connected to a deadly shooting in downtown Fredericksburg last weekend has turned himself in. The incident took place on William Street in the early hours of Saturday, leaving 23-year-old Tyler Lee Jones of Fredericksburg dead.
Elijah Musgrove, the suspect, surrendered Thursday morning to authorities at the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office in West Virginia. He now faces serious charges, including second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and using a firearm while committing a felony. Musgrove had been on the run since Saturday but is now waiting to be sent back to Fredericksburg, where police will take over and continue the legal process.
This isn’t the first arrest tied to Jones’ tragic death. Earlier, on Sunday morning, law enforcement caught 21-year-old Izaiah Jabbar Daniels of Woodford during a traffic stop in Orange County. Daniels is also charged with second-degree murder and using a firearm in a felony. He’s currently being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
The Fredericksburg Police Department is still piecing everything together and plans to share updates as their investigation unfolds. They’ve expressed gratitude to several agencies that helped with the case, including the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and the sheriff’s offices of Orange County, Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, and Fredericksburg.
This tragic incident has left the Fredericksburg community shaken, and many are awaiting further details as the investigation continues.
