A scary morning unfolded in Piedmont as deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office searched for a man involved in a violent crime. It all started around 7 a.m. Friday at the Food Lion grocery store on Augusta Road, where a man attacked someone and then stole their car.
The victim, who was hurt during the assault, was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Thankfully, the suspect didn’t get too far. Shortly after the carjacking, deputies found the vehicle abandoned at the corner of West Georgia Road and Augusta Road.
The suspect, however, didn’t stick around. After ditching the car, he ran off, prompting a massive search effort by deputies and their K9 units. They combed the area, trying to track him down.
Later, the Sheriff’s Office announced that they’ve wrapped up their immediate search efforts. Investigators are now working hard to identify the suspect. Although no arrests have been made yet, authorities believe this was an isolated incident and there’s no ongoing threat to the community.
Stay tuned as investigators continue their work to solve this case.
