Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of President-elect Donald Trump, has decided not to run for a seat in the Senate after all. There had been a lot of buzz about her possibly stepping into the role of Senator Marco Rubio, who is leaving his post to become Secretary of State in the Trump administration.
However, Lara recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her decision, explaining that after a lot of thought, reflection, and support from many people, she has chosen to withdraw from the race. She also expressed her best wishes for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as he picks someone to fill Rubio’s seat until 2026.
In her post, Lara said, “I couldn’t have been more honored to serve as co-chair of the Republican National Committee during such a crucial election. I’m truly grateful for the overwhelming support from people across the country and in Florida.”
She also hinted at some exciting news coming in January, but kept the details a mystery.
Lara Trump joined the RNC as co-chair in March, helping to strengthen her father-in-law’s grip on the party as he geared up for the election. Alongside her husband, Eric, and his brothers, Don Jr. and Donald Trump Jr., she played a key role in the campaign and was one of the main faces supporting the Republican ticket.
