Talented Azusa Teen Tragically Stabbed To Death: Community Mourns a Bright Star

A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the Azusa community as a young and talented high school senior, Angelina Gonzales, was killed in a violent attack on Friday night, December 20. Angelina, just 17 years old, was well-known at Azusa High School for her incredible artistic skills and active involvement in the cheerleading squad and wrestling team.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. in the 300 block of North Solano Avenue, near Azusa High School’s West Campus. When emergency responders arrived, they found Angelina suffering from multiple stab wounds. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, but despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead, according to the Azusa Police Department.

Angelina wasn’t just admired for her athleticism; she was also an award-winning artist. Earlier this year, she won first place in the 31st District Congressional Art Competition. In 2022, her artwork earned the Judge’s Choice Award. Her pieces have even been displayed at the U.S. Capitol, a testament to her remarkable talent. The Azusa Unified School District shared their grief in a statement, saying her creative talents and lively spirit brought so much joy to the community.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is now leading the investigation into Angelina’s death. On Saturday, an 18-year-old male who knew her was taken into custody. Authorities haven’t shared details about the relationship between the two.
