A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday morning in South Chicago, leaving a man dead after a shooting.

It happened around 9:15 a.m. in an alley along the 8000 block of South Escanaba Avenue. The victim, a 48-year-old man, was there when someone suddenly opened fire, according to Chicago police.

The man was hit multiple times and rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

At this time, no one has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
