In a shocking incident in Frisco, Texas, a Lyft driver named Dilaver Berk, who is just 25 years old, was brutally attacked by a passenger during a ride. This terrifying event unfolded when Berk picked up a man, later identified as 19-year-old Antwain Williams, on a Monday evening. As they arrived at the Legends at Legacy Apartments, Williams suddenly attacked Berk from behind.
Berk described the horrifying moments when Williams slashed his throat with a knife and tried to choke him with a cable. Despite his injuries, Berk bravely pleaded with his attacker, saying, “Hey, whatever you want. Leave me alone.” Unfortunately, Williams didn’t stop there; he also stole Berk’s Toyota Camry and left him bleeding in the parking lot.
Fortunately, a nearby woman noticed Berk’s distress and quickly called 911 for help. Berk was rushed to the hospital, where he received treatment for his serious injuries, including stitches on his neck and bandages on his hands. Thankfully, he has since been released but remains bedridden, grateful to be alive.
The police soon caught up with Williams after he crashed the stolen car while trying to evade arrest. He was arrested and now faces serious charges, including aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. It turns out he also had an outstanding warrant for a separate crime involving a child.
Berk, who moved to Texas from Turkey just last year, is known for his hard work and dedication. His friend, Dustin Tovi, expressed how heartbreaking it is to see what happened to someone who works so hard to support his family back home.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can come with ride-sharing, and it has left many in the community shaken.
