Ja’Marr Chase, wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, made history during the team’s Week 11 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. With a 32-yard catch from quarterback Joe Burrow in the first quarter, Chase became the NFL’s first receiver to hit 1,000 yards this season.
Since joining the Bengals as a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft, Chase has now surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his four seasons.
In Sunday night’s game, Chase also scored his 11th and 12th touchdowns of the season, finishing with seven catches for 75 yards.
Chase has now become just the sixth player in NFL history to reach 1,000 receiving yards in each of their first four seasons.
Earlier this season, during the Bengals’ Week 10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Chase had two amazing touchdown catches of 67 and 70 yards. With 12 career touchdowns over 60 yards, he holds the record for the most by any player under 25 years old.
Heading into Sunday’s game, Chase had already caught 66 passes for 981 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, bringing his career totals to 334 receptions, 4,698 yards, and 39 touchdowns over four seasons.
Chase has been a game-changer for the Bengals, and his agent tweeted, “He keeps making my job easier lmao,” after one of his big touchdown catches.
Back in January 2023, Chase reached 1,000 receiving yards in just his 12th game of the season, even after dealing with a hip injury. And in December 2021, he set a new rookie receiving yard record for the Bengals with a 20-yard catch against Baltimore.
Chase’s consistency and explosive plays continue to make him one of the NFL’s top receivers.
