Florida Woman’s Bizarre Attempt to Flirt Her Way Out of a DUI Ends in Chaos

A Florida woman’s attempt to charm her way out of trouble during a traffic stop didn’t quite go as planned. Sophia Ross, a 22-year-old from Sarasota County, was caught on body camera footage flirting with a police officer after being pulled over for suspected drunk driving.

The footage shows Ross, wearing a Hooters sweater, trying to make light of the situation. “Show it to the bodycam,” she said, lifting her sweater to reveal her shirt. Despite her attempts to joke around, things quickly got serious.

Ross now faces charges for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) over 0.15. According to reports, the incident happened on November 17, 2024, with police receiving the initial call at around 1:54 a.m. By the time officers tested her breath at 3:12 a.m., her BAC was reportedly a staggering 0.330, followed by a second test showing 0.318.

The situation unraveled after a witness reported seeing her car stop at green lights, hit curbs, strike a median, and even drive in the wrong lane twice. She eventually came to a stop at 2nd Street and Orange Avenue, where Sarasota police arrived to find her vehicle stationary in a turn lane. Officers blocked her car in, and as they approached, she woke up and started driving toward them, though she stopped before hitting their vehicle.

The police report detailed Ross as smelling strongly of alcohol, struggling to keep her balance, slurring her words, and moving slowly. When confronted, she admitted to being under the influence but insisted she hadn’t been driving. “Swear to God,” she said in the bodycam footage, claiming a friend had dropped her off.

The officer wasn’t convinced and asked her to perform sobriety tests. That’s when things took an unexpected turn. “I will do anything for you, daddy,” Ross said, referring to the officer. “God damn. You in that suit, I will do anything for you. Sorry.”

The officer stayed calm, steering the conversation back to the tests. But Ross wasn’t cooperating. She questioned why the officer was testing her, openly admitting she was drunk. At one point, she even lifted her sweater again. While she laughed and joked, the officer kept his distance, reminding her that everything was being recorded.

“Mom, dad, grandma, family—anyone can see this,” he said. Ross, unfazed, replied, “You think I give a—?”

Ross has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is set to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on Thursday. This incident serves as a reminder that attempting to charm your way out of trouble rarely ends well, especially when everything is caught on camera.
