As President Biden’s time in office comes to a close, his approval rating has dipped to its lowest point yet, according to a recent CNN poll.
The survey, released on Wednesday, shows that only 36% of Americans approve of how Biden is handling his job as president. This matches the lowest approval rating he’s seen during his presidency, a mark he first hit back in June of last year.
It’s been a tough year for Biden, filled with political challenges. He faced questions about his age and fitness for office, as well as the ongoing legal issues surrounding his son, Hunter Biden. Additionally, after a rough debate performance, Biden made the decision to step out of the presidential race.
On the flip side, 64% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with his performance, matching the highest disapproval rating he’s received in CNN’s polling.
With President-elect Trump set to take office next Monday, the Biden presidency is nearing its end. A Gallup poll also showed that 51% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the presidential transition.
The CNN poll was conducted from January 9 to 12, surveying 1,205 people with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2%.
It’s clear that Biden’s final year has been challenging, and now, the nation is preparing for a new chapter with the upcoming inauguration.
