Republican in Scandal May Be Forced to Self-Incriminate in Upcoming Filing, Report Reveals

Share news:

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) is stepping into 2025 with a cloud hanging over his head. A questionable loan he claimed to have given his campaign three years ago is still raising eyebrows, and it’s starting to unravel more problems than he expected.

Things may not be looking up for Ogles anytime soon.

The Tennessee representative is already facing scrutiny over his campaign finance filings. On top of that, he’s months behind on a crucial deadline to submit his personal financial disclosure form to Congress, according to Mother Jones.

Here’s where it gets tricky: Ogles has already made over two dozen changes to his campaign finance reports. This means any future financial filings could open the door to even more legal headaches if they’re found to be inaccurate or misleading.

If the reports are accurate, however, they could reveal more about Ogles’ finances, potentially showing that he misled the public during his 2022 Congressional campaign.

A recent report from The Office of Congressional Ethics suggests that Ogles may have “left out or misrepresented” important information in his financial reports during his campaign. The findings could lead to serious consequences, including criminal charges. And now, the House Ethics Committee is considering whether to launch a formal investigation into his actions.

In May, Ogles requested and received a 90-day extension to file his personal disclosures. But by August, he had missed that deadline. Sound familiar? It’s a situation eerily similar to that of disgraced ex-Rep. George Santos (R-NY), who also missed a deadline for his financial disclosure before facing legal consequences and being expelled from Congress.

Looks like Ogles is heading down a rocky road, with plenty of eyes on him as the story unfolds.
