Jill Biden recently expressed her frustration with Nancy Pelosi, criticizing her decision to push her husband out of the presidential race. Jill described the move as “disappointing,” especially given their 50-year-long friendship.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Mrs. Biden shared that the situation had been on her mind a lot lately. “We were friends for 50 years,” she said, reflecting on the emotional toll. “It was disappointing.”

Pelosi, the former speaker of the House, played a key role in rallying Democratic opposition against Joe Biden after his weak debate performance against Donald Trump. In June, Mrs. Biden admitted that she was “disappointed with how things unfolded” during the final years of their time in the White House, and particularly with how her husband’s exit from office went down.

As time passed, tensions between the Bidens and Pelosi deepened. In July, Pelosi refused to openly support Biden’s re-election bid. This move was seen as giving a green light to other Democrats and donors to distance themselves from him. She even privately showed Biden polling data, suggesting he wouldn’t stand a chance against Trump.

Before Election Day, Biden reluctantly acknowledged that Pelosi had “done what she had to do” in pushing him out. But after Trump’s victory in November, Biden publicly claimed that he still believed he could have beaten the Republican in a rematch.

This claim stirred tensions, especially with Vice President Kamala Harris. She was reportedly disappointed by Biden’s assertion, which many close to her said highlighted the “one-sided loyalty” in their relationship.

Meanwhile, Pelosi blamed Biden for staying in the race too long, suggesting that a sooner exit could have strengthened Harris’s position or given other candidates a chance.

In a twist, Jill Biden also talked about her meeting with Donald Trump at the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral. Despite their differences, she and Trump shared a friendly conversation, with Jill explaining that “Joe and I respect our institutions, our traditions… What would be the point of nastiness?”

In a surprising turn of events, the outgoing president warned of the growing influence of tech billionaires like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg in his farewell speech. Biden warned of a new tech “oligarchy” that could threaten democracy. He criticized social media giants for abandoning fact-checking and fueling misinformation, calling it a danger to American democracy.

The Bidens are wrapping up their White House years, facing both personal and political challenges, but they remain committed to the values of respect and truth, even in the face of controversy.
