In McDowell County, North Carolina, a man is now facing serious charges after a frightening incident involving gunfire at a car full of people.
It all started on January 7, when deputies were called to a motel about a shooting. When they arrived, they met with the victims, who shared their scary experience. They explained that they were sitting in a parked car on Pinnacle Church Road when another car pulled up out of nowhere. Suddenly, someone in that car started shooting at them. After firing several shots, the suspect sped away, leaving the victims shaken but thankfully unharmed.
The investigation moved quickly, and by the next day, January 8, authorities had identified the suspect as 27-year-old Elijah Gary Clontz. According to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, Clontz has been charged with a felony for discharging a firearm or a barrelled weapon into an occupied vehicle.
As of now, Clontz is being held on a secured bond of $7,500 while the case unfolds. The incident has left many in the community shocked, but law enforcement acted swiftly to bring the suspect to justice.
