A chaotic scene unfolded at the Manhattan Supreme Court building on Monday afternoon when a violent altercation broke out, leaving two people injured. According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), the incident happened around 12:25 p.m. in a hallway inside 100 Centre Street, where the court is located.
Court officers rushed to the scene and quickly helped the injured individuals, transporting them to a nearby hospital. However, officials have not yet shared details about their conditions.
Authorities said that seven people were arrested in connection with the fight. Officers also found two bladed weapons at the scene, though they haven’t revealed what kind of weapons were used or what sparked the altercation.
Al Baker, a spokesperson for the State Office of Court Administration, confirmed that the incident took place inside the Supreme Court Criminal Term. In a statement, Baker praised the court officers for their swift response, saying they ensured the victims got medical attention while launching an investigation into the matter.
The NYPD is still working to figure out what led to the fight. So far, they haven’t released any details about the suspects or the victims.
