A Florida woman who was already in jail for threatening her former Disney coworkers has now been sentenced for trying to hire a hitman to kill members of her own family.
Tureygua Inaru, 31, was locked up in Osceola County Jail back in December 2022 after being arrested for making written threats and stalking. But while she was behind bars, she was reportedly asking other inmates if they knew someone who could murder her parents and grandparents. She claimed that her parents had abused her and her siblings, and she also believed she would inherit around $2 million if they were gone.
Her family wasn’t the only target on her list. According to an arrest warrant, Inaru also wanted to harm an assistant state attorney. She told one inmate that she wanted the attorney to “suffer” and didn’t care if his family got hurt too. The inmate later told police that Inaru seemed to have completely “snapped.”
Another inmate gave a similar account, saying that Inaru specifically wanted her father dead and her mother arrested for alleged abuse. Inaru reportedly believed her parents were trying to keep her locked up and ruin her reputation. This inmate also said that Inaru bragged about knowing an ex-Navy SEAL who could “take care of” the assistant state attorney.
Both inmates told police that Inaru had even put a price on these murders—$50,000 per family member, all of which she planned to cover with her expected inheritance.
When police informed Inaru’s family about the threats, her father wasn’t too concerned. He told officers that he didn’t believe she was serious but that she needed mental health treatment.
Meanwhile, the assistant state attorney, who had been preparing to prosecute Inaru for an earlier case involving threats against two former Disney coworkers, said he had been harassed by her for a long time. She had sent him emails from fake accounts trying to make it look like his clients were accusing him of wrongdoing. Things got so bad that he had to change his daily routine, start carrying a gun, and worry about his family’s safety. Eventually, he pressed charges against her.
As for the ex-Navy SEAL she claimed could do the job, he told police that Inaru had been harassing him too. He described her as “crazier than a sack full of wild weasels” and denied ever being involved in any murder plot. In fact, he had never even met her in person. He also said that Inaru told him a completely different story—claiming that her mother once tried to kill her for her father’s inheritance.
The plot was eventually exposed when the second inmate, the one who heard about her plan, alerted jail staff. Investigators launched an undercover sting operation in January 2023, with a detective posing as an inmate. Inaru reportedly shared details of her plan with the undercover detective, which gave police the evidence they needed to take action.
In February 2023, police confronted Inaru about the allegations, but she denied everything and blamed the two inmates for setting her up. However, by March 2023, an arrest warrant was issued, charging her with three counts of solicitation to commit murder and one count of cyberstalking.
The case made its way through the legal system, and on January 8, Inaru entered a plea. She was sentenced to 30 months in prison, followed by eight years of supervised probation.
