A tragic shooting took place in Woodlawn early Saturday morning, leaving one man dead and a woman injured.
According to Chicago police, officers were called to the 6600 block of South Champlain Avenue just before 3 a.m. When they arrived, they found a 42-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to her left arm. She told officers that a man had also been shot inside an apartment nearby.
The victim, a 38-year-old man, had been shot in the chest. Emergency responders rushed him to the University of Chicago Medical Center, but sadly, he did not survive his injuries.
The woman was also taken to the same hospital for treatment. She had been shot twice in her left arm but was reported to be in good condition.
Police recovered a firearm at the scene, and detectives are actively investigating what led to the shooting.
