Officials have confirmed that a landing gear failure caused the Arizona plane crash involving a private jet owned by Mötley Crüe lead singer Vince Neil. The crash, which happened on Monday at Scottsdale Airport, resulted in the death of one pilot and injuries to three others.
According to a statement from the City of Scottsdale, the Learjet 35A experienced a malfunction in its left main landing gear while landing. This caused the aircraft to lose control and crash into a parked Gulfstream 200 jet.
Shocking Footage Captures the Crash
Video footage of the accident shows the Learjet skidding down the runway and struggling to stop before colliding with the parked plane. The crash happened at 2:39 p.m. after the private jet completed a flight from Austin, Texas. There were four people on board, including two pilots and two passengers.
Victims and Injuries
Vince Neil was not on the flight, but his girlfriend, Rain Andreani, and her friend were among the passengers. Andreani, 43, suffered five broken ribs due to the impact. One of the pilots was tragically killed at the scene, while the other pilot and both passengers were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Two dogs that belonged to the female passengers were also on board but survived the crash. Fortunately, the person inside the parked Gulfstream jet was unharmed.
Emergency Response
First responders arrived at the crash site within a minute of the collision, providing critical aid to those involved. The Scottsdale Airport was temporarily closed on Monday following the accident but was reopened on Tuesday after local officials gave their approval.
Vince Neil’s Response
Vince Neil’s lawyer released a statement expressing the rockstar’s concern and gratitude. “Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today,” the statement read.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash to determine more details about what caused the landing gear failure.
