Share news:

The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a missing at-risk woman as a winter storm impacts Eastern Carolina. Authorities report that Karen Martin was last seen at an assisted living facility in Moyock on Tuesday at approximately 3:30 a.m. Officials have classified Martin as at-risk and are urging the public to assist in locating her.

According to deputies, Martin was last known to be in the company of Wendy Ambrose. The two individuals are believed to be traveling in a silver 2016 Nissan Pathfinder with North Carolina registration TEF-2004. Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding Ambrose’s involvement or Martin’s potential destination. However, they emphasize the importance of locating Martin as soon as possible due to the adverse weather conditions and her at-risk status.

The sheriff’s office is requesting that anyone with information about Martin’s whereabouts contact them immediately. Individuals who have seen Martin, Ambrose, or the described vehicle are encouraged to call the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office at 252-453-3633. Law enforcement officials stress that even small details could be crucial in ensuring Martin’s safe return.

As the search continues, authorities are monitoring the severe winter storm that has been affecting Eastern Carolina. Heavy snowfall, freezing temperatures, and hazardous road conditions could complicate efforts to locate Martin. Given these challenges, law enforcement agencies are working diligently to track leads and determine the best course of action to find her quickly.

Residents in the area are asked to remain vigilant, report any possible sightings, and share any relevant details with law enforcement. Officials also advise motorists and travelers to be cautious due to the ongoing winter storm, which could further impact travel and search efforts.

The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office continues to coordinate with other local agencies in their efforts to locate Martin. They are urging anyone with potential information to reach out promptly, as time is of the essence in ensuring her safety.
