Authorities in New York City have arrested a man accused of a shocking random attack in a fancy Manhattan neighborhood. The suspect, 25-year-old Joshua Zinberg, was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon, according to the NYPD.

The attack, which left a 55-year-old tourist with serious injuries, had the city on edge. The victim, walking through the streets of New York, was suddenly slashed across the left ear and cheek in broad daylight. He was rushed to the hospital, leaving behind a bloodied sidewalk that painted a grim picture of the incident.

Zinberg, who lives on the Upper West Side, was identified in a rather unusual way—his own mother recognized him in security footage shared by the police. She came forward to confirm his identity, leading to his arrest.

After his capture, Zinberg was charged with a slew of offenses, including attempted second-degree murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. As he left the police precinct, Zinberg made a dramatic exit, ranting and even spitting toward reporters, accusing them of chasing stories for attention. “You do it for the clicks, huh?” he shouted.

The incident wasn’t isolated. Just two days earlier, New York saw another horrifying spree. Ramon Rivera, a 51-year-old homeless man with a long criminal record, was arrested after allegedly stabbing three people to death in Manhattan. Rivera, who had been released from jail only weeks before, has a history of run-ins with the law, with at least eight prior arrests.

These back-to-back knife attacks have sparked concerns among New Yorkers and tourists alike, raising questions about safety in the city. While both suspects are now in custody, the chilling randomness of these crimes has left many shaken.
