A horrifying stabbing in Lower Manhattan left a 17-year-old boy dead and an 18-year-old injured on Thursday evening. The tragic attack happened outside a ramen restaurant in the Financial District after the victims told their attackers they didn’t speak English, according to police and sources.
It all started around 7:39 p.m. on John Street, near the popular eatery Kuu Ramen, when three men approached the two teens and asked if they spoke English. The teens said they didn’t, which reportedly set off the violent attack.
One of the victims, 17-year-old Yeremi Colino, was stabbed in the chest. The other, an 18-year-old, suffered a knife wound to his arm. Sadly, Yeremi didn’t survive. Witnesses described the scene as something out of a nightmare.
“I was walking back from class and suddenly heard people screaming,” one witness shared. “I saw this kid holding his neck while blood was pouring out. He collapsed, got up for a moment, then fell again. It was like a horror movie—there was so much blood.”
Inside Kuu Ramen, customer Javier Pau had been enjoying a bowl of spicy pork ramen when the chaos unfolded. “I looked up and saw a kid covered in blood. Two other guys were running away,” he said. The gruesome sight left him shaken. “I felt light-headed and had to go to the bathroom. It made me lose my appetite.”
Yeremi lived at the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown, Manhattan, which currently houses migrants. The suspects fled the scene, and no arrests have been made so far.
Police have cordoned off the area and are actively investigating. For now, the streets of Lower Manhattan remain on edge as detectives work to track down those responsible.
