A 35-year-old Las Vegas man, Timothy Sahrang La, has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing his father, claiming that aliens instructed him to do so, according to police reports.
Incident Details
On February 5, around 6:18 p.m., paramedics responded to a call from a frantic woman, later identified as La’s mother, who said her husband was unconscious and not breathing at their home on Caprock Canyon Avenue, reported 8 News Now.
When paramedics arrived, they found 73-year-old Eun Jin La lying in the master bedroom. Initially, they thought his death was due to natural causes, but after police officers arrived and noticed suspicious details, they contacted the homicide unit for further investigation, according to True Crime News.
Suspect’s Statements
La’s mother informed police that her son lived at home but had left for work earlier that day. She also mentioned that he had a medical condition, though she did not specify what it was.
Investigators believe that Timothy La shot his father while they were alone at home and then fled. Later, when questioned by detectives, La reportedly said he had gone for a walk around the neighborhood after the shooting.
During the interrogation, La made bizarre claims. He stated that he was “saving someone” whom he described as a “worker” from being tortured. He further alleged that this “worker” was “wearing the skin of his father’s face” and that aliens had ordered him to kill his father. He also claimed that he felt as though he was on another planet.
Investigation & Arrest
During their search of the house, police found a 9mm gun and a 9mm bullet casing. After gathering evidence, authorities arrested Timothy La for open murder with the use of a deadly weapon. He was denied bail and is now in custody at the Clark County Detention Center.
