So, why all the buzz? Well, Trudeau’s approval ratings have taken quite a hit lately. A poll from Angus Reid, taken right before Christmas, showed that only 28% of Canadians support him, with a whopping 68% not happy with his leadership.
But that’s not all. This comes after months of struggles for Trudeau. In September, he survived a no-confidence vote in parliament—thanks to a failed attempt by the Conservative Party to kick him out. Then, just before Christmas, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland shocked everyone by resigning from the cabinet, citing disagreements with Trudeau over Canada’s path forward.
