A dramatic high-speed pursuit in Lamar County on Tuesday evening came to a crashing halt after a stolen vehicle collided with a deputy’s patrol car.
According to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers were in pursuit of a suspect driving a stolen vehicle, speeding through the western and southern parts of the county. At one point, the chase briefly crossed into neighboring Fannin County before returning to Lamar.
The pursuit ended when the suspect’s vehicle and a deputy’s patrol car crashed, bringing the dangerous chase to an abrupt stop.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, and both deputies involved in the crash were transported to Paris Regional Health, where they were treated for minor injuries. The suspect was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity, and the investigation remains ongoing.
This high-speed chase adds to growing concerns over vehicle theft and reckless driving in the region. Law enforcement officials urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help prevent similar dangerous incidents in the future.
