Surveillance footage has captured four suspects that the NYPD believes are behind a series of robberies in the Bronx neighborhoods of Crotona Park and Soundview. Police say there have been eight robberies in total, with two taking place in Starlight Park.
The burglars seem to be targeting pedestrians, snatching jewelry, electronics, and wallets from unsuspecting victims. Thankfully, none of the victims have been hurt in these incidents, according to the authorities.
To help residents stay safe, police are sharing some practical tips for anyone who might find themselves in a risky situation. First, they recommend keeping your wallet in your front pocket, as it’s much harder for thieves to grab it from there compared to a back pocket.
They also suggest holding onto your phone securely and keeping it out of sight when you’re not using it. Lastly, they advise keeping your purse closed and carrying it close to your body to make it more difficult for someone to snatch it.
These robberies have raised concerns in the community, and the NYPD is continuing its investigation to catch the suspects. In the meantime, staying alert and following these safety tips could help Bronx residents protect themselves and their belongings.
