Case Against Suspended Las Vegas Police Sergeant Moves Forward in Court

Share news:

The legal troubles continue for Kevin Menon, the suspended Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department sergeant, as his case advances in court. Menon is facing two separate criminal cases—one involving abuse of police powers, and the other related to charges of possessing child sexual abuse material.

This week, Menon appeared in court for the second case, which has been delayed as he seeks new legal representation. His trial, initially scheduled for this month, has been postponed, with a new hearing set for January 22.

Menon, a controversial figure in the LVMPD, has been accused of using questionable tactics while working undercover on the Las Vegas Strip. According to evidence presented in court, Menon allegedly orchestrated arrests using a method referred to as a “shoulder check and smash.” Additionally, bodycam footage shows him and other officers employing a feature of the Signal app that allows messages to disappear—something that violates Nevada law.

Prominent defense attorney Dominic Gentile is representing Menon in this case, while the investigation into his alleged misconduct continues to unfold. The outcome of these cases will have significant implications for Menon’s career and the Las Vegas police force as a whole.
