In Spartanburg County, South Carolina, deputies responded to a surprising burglary situation on Reidville Road around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. What made this case unusual was that the property owner caught the suspect red-handed and held him down until law enforcement arrived.
The incident began when the victim arrived at his property and noticed something was off. His 1994 GMC Yukon had been broken into, and the speakers were missing. As he inspected further, he spotted his stolen speakers and some other valuables sitting on the porch. That’s when he noticed a shattered back door window and found a man, later identified as 48-year-old Jamison Crowder, inside the building.
Acting quickly, the victim held Crowder down and called for help. Deputies soon arrived and discovered that Crowder was carrying a backpack filled with items that belonged to the victim, including multiple boxes of ammunition, AR-15 magazines, and various tools.
But that wasn’t all. Deputies also found a small plastic tube with what appeared to be a crystal substance suspected to be methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia, hidden in Crowder’s coat.
Crowder now faces serious charges, including two counts of second-degree burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
It was a dramatic and swift end to what could have been a very different story, thanks to the quick thinking and bravery of the property owner.
