In Carroll County, Georgia, an intense police chase unfolded on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of both the driver and a passenger involved. It all started when a Carroll County deputy attempted to pull over a car, but instead of stopping, the driver decided to make a run for it.
The chase took off through the county, weaving onto Georgia 166 near River Ridge Drive. The situation escalated when the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of a Marathon gas station, where things took a dramatic turn. According to the Georgia State Patrol, a passenger holding a child tried to get out of the moving car at the gas station. While doing so, the car door hit a Georgia State trooper’s vehicle.
But the chaos didn’t stop there. The car sped off again, this time heading onto Tyus Carrollton Road. Along the way, it hit another patrol vehicle. Law enforcement eventually used a PIT maneuver to bring the car to a stop on a grassy area, forcing the driver to abandon the vehicle and try to escape on foot.
The driver didn’t get far, though, and was quickly caught by officers. During the investigation, authorities discovered the driver was already wanted for aggravated assault. Meanwhile, the passenger, who also had active warrants, was taken into custody as well.
Officials haven’t released the names of the individuals involved or provided details on the specific charges they’ll face. However, this high-stakes chase certainly brought a dramatic end to their attempt to evade the law.
