In a startling turn of events, a Chicago woman, Whitney Wilcox, 40, has been charged with the February murder of her boyfriend, Jeremy Rodgers, 46, after new DNA evidence emerged. Wilcox’s behavior during her arrest has drawn significant attention.
On December 2, authorities re-arrested Wilcox at her West Ridge neighborhood apartment. While handcuffed and awaiting questioning, she reportedly asked her Google device to play music and began dancing in the living room, according to court documents.
The incident traces back to February 26, when Wilcox called 911, reporting that Rodgers had been stabbed but claimed ignorance about the assailant. First responders found Rodgers bleeding on the bathroom floor, while Wilcox appeared “distressed but otherwise clean and free from blood.” Rodgers allegedly identified Wilcox as his attacker before succumbing to his injuries the following day.
Initially, Wilcox was arrested but released without charges, as she claimed self-defense. However, subsequent DNA analysis revealed Wilcox’s DNA on the knife handle and Rodgers’ blood on the blade, leading prosecutors to charge her with first-degree murder.
Wilcox is currently held without bail, with her next court appearance scheduled for December 24.
