Chiefs’ Harrison Butker sidelined with knee injury; team signs new kicker

Share news:

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is set to undergo surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee, sidelining him for approximately three to four weeks. The injury was reported on November 14, 2024, ahead of the Chiefs’ upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills.

In response to Butker’s absence, the Chiefs plan to sign kicker Spencer Shrader from the New York Jets’ practice squad. Shrader, a 2024 undrafted free agent from Notre Dame, has appeared in two games for the Jets, successfully converting both field goal attempts and all three extra points.

Butker’s injury has also sparked discussions on social media, with some users referencing his previous public statements on family values and his endorsement of political figures.

The Chiefs, currently holding a 9-0 record, aim to maintain their momentum in the upcoming games despite Butker’s temporary absence. His expected return before the playoffs is anticipated to bolster the team’s efforts as they pursue a third consecutive Super Bowl title.
