A suspect has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of 30-year-old Ashley Elkins, who was reported missing on January 3. Roseville police shared the update on Wednesday, confirming that the suspect is Elkins’ ex-boyfriend. He was taken into custody in Flint and is expected to face formal charges in court on Thursday morning.
Ashley Elkins, a mother of two, was last seen on the morning of January 2, leaving her home in Warren in a grey 2010 Chevy Malibu. Her family grew concerned when her phone last pinged at her ex-boyfriend’s apartment complex in Roseville. Authorities began searching that area on Tuesday night.
Roseville Police Chief Mitchell Berlin shared that Elkins’ car was later found near the intersection of 13 Mile and Little Mack in Roseville. A trash dumpster from the Hampton Court Apartments, where her phone had last been traced, was also taken in for investigation. Neither Elkins nor her ex-boyfriend were found at the apartment complex.
Police believe there’s a strong chance that foul play is involved in Ashley’s disappearance. They suspect something serious may have happened at the Hampton Court Apartments. Investigators have recovered important evidence, including forensic clues, from the complex.
Ashley is described as being 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about Ashley’s whereabouts to reach out to the Warren Police Department or the Roseville Police Department.
