A South Carolina man has been arrested and charged in the shocking case of a woman who went missing in September. Daniel Peele, whose age hasn’t been shared yet, was taken into custody on December 9. He’s facing serious charges, including murder, kidnapping, and obstructing justice.
This arrest comes just days after a heartbreaking discovery near Hartsville, South Carolina. On December 4, human remains were found on Ruby Road, about 70 miles northeast of Columbia. Authorities later confirmed that the remains belonged to 49-year-old Cassidy “Shamra” Felkel. She had been last seen in the Hartsville area on September 25 before disappearing without a trace.
The story of how her remains were found is both haunting and tragic. Felkel’s daughter, Kasey Wolfe, reportedly received a tip to check the area on Ruby Road. Unable to go herself, she asked a friend to take a look. That friend made the grim discovery and found what turned out to be Felkel’s remains.
Darlington County deputies quickly responded and recovered the remains. The coroner later confirmed Felkel’s identity and ruled her death a homicide.
While the exact relationship between Peele and Felkel hasn’t been made public, investigators believe Peele strangled Felkel after an argument, according to an arrest warrant. It’s alleged that he then buried her body in a well.
Peele is currently being held at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center. A judge denied him bond, and he’s scheduled to be arraigned on the murder charge on January 22.
This tragic case has left many in the Hartsville community shaken, as they mourn the loss of Felkel and grapple with the chilling details of her death.
